Water Clock

Check out these cool alarm clocks from Bedol.
They run on water....that's it! No battery, no electricity, no winding. Just fill it up with water and it will run for at least six weeks.
Brilliant!

My kind of glass dish

I received my Chiasso catalog a week or two ago, but just sat down last night to savor it. I kind of hurt inside when I look through their catalog because I want everything. If only money weren't an object.....
I can afford this adorable glass bowl though! In fact, I may buy two!

I think it's fun and I enjoy fun things.

Eames House Bird

Updated: Sorry that I forgot to resize the image in the original post. This should look better!

Quoted from MCA Store:
"Charles and Ray Eames augmented the interior “collage” of the Eames House with numerous objects brought back from their extensive travels. The figure of a black wooden bird — evidently one of their most prized objects of American folk art — has stood in the centre of their living room for over fifty years. Seen as an accessory in many of the Eameses’ photographs, the bird figure is from the Appalachian mountain region of the eastern United States. Based on the original artefact and in cooperation with the Eames Family. Solid alder, black lacquer finish, steel wire. 10.8 x 3.5 x 11 inches"

I WILL own one someday. For $200, unfortunately it won't be today. The simplicity is so beautiful.

My perfect coat rack

I've been looking for a cool coat rack for awhile. I want something by my backdoor, but I don't want it to be just any ol' hook.
Today I found just the thing!

This Victoria Butler Coatrack is perfect. It's modern, it's cool & it's totally practical!

Reversible Side Tables

I love these Reversible Side Tables from West Elm. They can interlock and create a larger table if needed.

Great design makes me so happy!

Great art for $20. Seriously.

I'm not the first, and I won't be the last talking about 20 x 200.
They put up two new pieces of art a week: one photo and one work on paper.

This is the best way to start your art collection. Hands down. Don't buy the ugly piece for your wall at the local furniture outlet. Buy something beautiful that you love! It doesn't have to break the bank.

Bringing the outside in

I love these Boards by Joel. They sell them as trivets & coasters. I think I would just use it as a decoration. They are beautiful!

My Christmas List...

Some years the husband and I exchange gifts....some years we don't. There is never a real rhyme or reason to why we do or don't, therefore I can't explain it. This year we are not giving each other gifts.
But if we were, this would be my Christmas List. (Maybe I'll show this to the husband at birthday time) :)
Here it is in no particular order...

I am seriously dying to own this Lego Architecture Series Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. I said this list was in no particular order, but this Lego Set would definitely be the #1 item on my list! One of the things I want to do before I die is visit Fallingwater. I think this Lego set is the coolest thing I've seen since my remote control Barbie car of 1990.
I currently have Apartment Therapy: The Eight-Step Home Cure checked out from the library. It's a fabulous book and I would really love to own it.

Have I written about the Fuji Instax camera here before? I may have. Anyway, I reeeeaaaally want one!
I'd also like a magazine rack for my dining room. A mid century modern one would be rad to go with my mid century dining room table and china cabinet.

Something like this would probably work....

And of course, I want my dental mirror!

Merry Christmas Eve! I think today is often more fun than the actual holiday tomorrow. I hope you all have a great Christmas!

I think these would be good Christmas gifts...

While trying to figure out what the heck I am going to get some people on my Christmas list, I found some super fun stuff that I think would be good gifts. I liked them so much I wanted to share...

This WTF Snowglobe from Urban Outfitters is only $12.00 and is funny. I like a good and funny gift.

I bought this LOL Disposable Camera from Urban Outfitters for one of my brothers. I totally think he is going to love it! Plus, it's only $12.00!

I think I will buy this Mini Branch Wall Hook from Urban Outfitters for myself, isn't it lovely? It too is only $12.00! I love UO for their great prices. :)

Okay, I think these Star Crayons from Stubby Pencil Studios are so stinking fun and they are only $8.95! The best part about them? They are made from 100% recycled crayons. These are so wonderful.

This pretty bag from Magpie Lovely would be a perfect girlfriend gift.

Pillow Decor

I'm not a fan of Black Friday. While in college I worked at a toy store during the holiday season one year. Calling Black Friday a nightmare is beyond an understatement.
So, in other news....
Today I continued on my never-ending hunt for the perfect duvet cover. I was completely sidetracked though while on Bliss Living Home's website.
They have the loveliest decorative pillows.
Here are some of my favorites...

I'm looking for a vintage globe...

I have been looking for a vintage globe for awhile now. I'd prefer it to be from the 50's, but I am open to any time....I just want it to look cool.

I have found so many I love on etsy, but to be honest, they are always more money than I am looking to spend. So I'd like to find one locally if possible.
After I finally find and purchase my vintage globe I will be looking for a new (current/ up-to-date) globe.
I actually saw some really cool new ones at Home Goods not too long ago. They were probably made in China though, so I'll have to keep looking.

Here are some fun vintage ones I found on etsy today.
Seller: sweetshorn
I really like this one above. I think it's my favorite of the day.
Seller: Hindsvik
Seller: vintagebutterfly94
I want mine to be blue, but if I didn't, this one above would be super cool.
Seller: jwhite2
Okay, maybe this one is my favorite for today....or maybe they are tied. I really like the base on this one. And it's from the 50's. So, maybe this is my fav. Too bad it's 75 bones!

Talking about Christmas way too early

Okay, there are a couple of big things wrong with this post.

1) I hate it when people get all Christmas-y before Thanksgiving.
Let's celebrate Thanksgiving AND THEN think about Christmas.
I also hate it when people decorate before Thanksgiving.....come on, six weeks of Christmas decoration is not enough?

2) That being said, I don't even really decorate for Christmas.
Well, sometimes I do a little. I haven't had a tree in years. I don't have kids, so it seems like a huge hassle for just the hubs and me. So, the second thing wrong with this post is that I wouldn't buy Christmas plates and/or mugs. They seem like a waste of money to me, just being used one month out of the year and all. I like to stick with white plates and serving dishes and plain glass goblets and then use pops of color with the napkins, tablecloths and table decorations.

BUT, these plates, mugs, and the cakestand are sooooo cute! And I love the mugs (below) too!

So maybe if my scroogy-ness wears off I'll buy these. :)

And in my defense to problem #1, if you were to buy these you would probably want to order them before Thanksgiving so they'd be delivered, washed and ready for your holiday parties!
Everything found in the 'Holiday' section on Crate and Barrel's website.

Love these

I imagine the three of them on my dining room table. Maybe throw in a single flower in each of them every once in a while.

Super cute. Found here on etsy.

I've had this in my shopping cart for probably 2 months now...

I need to just go ahead and buy it already.
From CB2.

An open letter to Miss Elsie Flannigan

I am super excited about the opening of Elsie's new Red Velvet Art Store! I just have one beef, so I thought I would write her a letter.

Dear Elsie,
Congrats on your new Red Velvet Art Store! It looks amazing and I hope to visit the brick and mortar store someday.
I just wish you would put your Thought Bubble (pictured at left) chalkboard up on your website because...well...I really would like to purchase it. I've read rumors on Rachel's blog that they would be in the online shop "soon". I hope the rumors are true! Love, The Amber Avenue Blog

Isn't that Thought Bubble cute? It would be so much fun for photo shoots!
